UK aid: where do we go from here?

UK-AID-for-websites-small

On 29th April the DSA is hosting this panel discussion (details below) and invites questions from SWIDN members to share with the panel on the day. If you have any questions you would like us to send the organisers; please send them to Emma at info@swidn.org.uk before 5pm on the 28th April.

After more than a decade of Conservative leadership many were looking to Labour for a fresh direction for UK international development. But the announcement of a dramatic cut to aid signals the end of the UK as a development superpower. Was this something the development community should have foreseen? What can realistically be done to limit the damage? What will UK aid really look like against this new budget? And is there a chance for anything good to come out of this new approach to international development? Join our panel of aid watchers and political experts to discuss the future for UK aid under Labour.

Delivered in partnership with the University of Birmingham.

Panellists: Tamsyn Barton, formerly Independent Commission for Aid Impact Romilly Greenhill, Bond Russell Hargrave, Editor, UK Energy & Climate, Politico Chris Lyon, University of Birmingham Moderator: David Hudson, University of Birmingham

Date: 29 April – 12 noon UK.
