Fundraising Manager – For-Ethiopia
Location: Homebased
Hours: 7 hours per week with flexible dates and hours
Term of contract: Initial 6 months freelance with potential for longer (see below)

About For-Ethiopia
For-Ethiopia is a UK registered charity dedicated to improving the lives of vulnerable
communities in Ethiopia. We work with local partners to deliver sustainable programs in
areas such as education and children’s welfare and wellbeing. For-Ethiopia is a small Bristol
based charity working in partnerships to make a real difference in the lives of rural girls,
orphans and children in hardship and with special needs.
Job Description
We are seeking a passionate and results-oriented Fundraising Manager to join our team. The
successful candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising
strategies to support our mission, delivering excellent donor care and ensuring accurate
records on the database. This is an opportunity to make a tangible difference and to be part of
a small, friendly team of trustees and volunteers who are passionate about improving lives of
rural children in Ethiopia.
Key Responsibilities:
- Fundraising Strategy: Develop and implement comprehensive fundraising strategies, including individual giving, corporate partnerships, grant writing, and major donor cultivation. Work with the Marketing and Communications officer to achieve the development objectives.
- Donor Acquisition and Retention: Identify new and steward existing supporters with a diverse portfolio, including individual donors, corporations, Trust and Foundations.
- Grant Writing: Research and write compelling grant proposals to secure funding from various sources. Ensuring compliance with the Fundraising Regulator’s Code of Practice and data protection legislation including GDPR.
- Financial record keeping: recording and monitoring funding terms, ensuring accurate financial records and contextual reporting.
- Communications: Develop and implement effective communication strategies to engage donors and promote the charity’s work including online.
- Teamwork: Collaborate with the Trustees to achieve organisational goals including supporting Trustees with adhoc jobs and special projects as needed.
Qualifications and Skills:
● Proven track record in fundraising and donor relations.
● Proven ability to manage own workload, conflicting deadlines and deliver to targets/objectives.
● Strong understanding of fundraising legislations, principles, methods and ethics.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
● Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
● Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with donors and partners.
● Strong organisational and time management skills.
● Proficiency in grant writing and proposal development.
● Experience in a non-profit or charity setting is preferred.
● Passion for the mission of For-Ethiopia.
Desirable
● Experience of, or an interest in, International Development
● International Development related educational background
Terms of engagement
This job is one day a week. To be worked with flexible hours if needed.
For a fixed term contract of 6 months with three month’s probation period and with view to renew for a 12-month period or longer subject to funding. With an hourly rate of £30.
